EASY BOLONESE SAUCE
This is a quick and easy sauce to make, store, and serve any day of the week. It's made with simple ingredients that you can find right in your pantry. My secret is lots of oregano.
INGREDIENTS
2 pounds ground beef OR 1 pound ground beef and 1 pound mild Italian sausage
Olive Oil
Oregano
Kosher salt
Garlic salt
2 24 ounce bottles of pasta sauce
For an earthy flavor use a sauce with mushrooms and herbs. For a hearty, kid-friendly sauce, try a three or four cheese pasta sauce.
Cover the bottom of a large pot with a thin layer of olive oil over medium heat.
Brown the meat and drain the grease.
Spoon a thick layer of oregano over the meat and stir.
Sprinkle with garlic salt and kosher salt to taste.
Stir in pasta sauce
Simmer over low heat for ten minutes, stirring occasionally.
Taste and season as desired.
The sauce will be ready to serve immediately, but it’s best to refrigerate for 24 hours for maximum flavor.
Serve over spaghetti and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese.
I recommend serving with garlic bread, a green salad, and a glass of red wine.
